Funding

It is important to maintain and receive funding for your SD program.  As an organization, you will need money for: Moderator Training, Kick-Off Dinner, advertising, action projects, the Annual SDCN conference, food for group meetings (optional), SD-wide social activities (optional), room reservation fees, and more. Depending on your school, becoming an official student organization may be the best method for securing a yearly budget.  Administrative and departmental funds are also great sources. Having administrative support and backing can also bring opportunities for networking with valuable donors. Fundraising is a fun way to obtain extra donations as  well. Several campuses also apply for grants to award them either for excellent service to the community, or for special requests to help fund SD students to attend the Annual Conference. It is very important to express gratitude and maintain good rapport with your sponsors in order to secure a lasting fiscal foundation.

"Sustained Dialogue has challenged me to step out of the boundaries set by my own surface assumptions about other people. I have become comfortable talking about issues of race, gender, religion, and the relationships that are encompassed by these issues. Without Sustained Dialogue it would have taken me many more years to arrive where I am today. It has been an amazing experience, and has only fueled my determination in creating an environment where issues can be discussed at the dinner table rather than swept under the rug."
